On 6th August 2025, Dr. Sumita Prabhakar, President of Can Protect Foundation and Senior Gynecologist at CMI Hospital, Dehradun, was invited as the Chief Guest at the World Breastfeeding Week celebrations organized by CIMS & R College of Nursing, Dehradun. The theme of the program was “Prioritizing Breastfeeding – Creating a Sustainable Support System.”

Dr. Sumita Prabhakar delivered a special health talk to nursing students, highlighting that breastfeeding is the best source of nutrition for infants, builds strong immunity, and strengthens the emotional bond between mother and child. She emphasized the value of traditional practices where breastfeeding was always encouraged and explained how breastfeeding also protects mothers from health problems such as breast cancer. She encouraged the students to spread this awareness in their communities and support mothers in every possible way.

The program also featured poster making, face painting, and rangoli competitions on breastfeeding awareness. Students participated with great enthusiasm, and winners were honored for their creativity and dedication.

Dr. Sumita Prabhakar expressed her gratitude to Advocate Lalit Mohan Joshi (Chairman, CIMS & R College of Nursing), Miss Chetana Gautam (Principal & Professor), and the faculty team for organizing this meaningful program and for inviting her to be a part of it.

Through such initiatives, Dr. Sumita Prabhakar continues to spread awareness about the importance of breastfeeding and its role in ensuring the health and well-being of both mothers and children.
