On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Can Protect Foundation organised a series of initiatives to promote breast and cervical cancer awareness, encourage preventive healthcare, and educate women about the importance of early detection.
The campaign began on 28 February with a women’s health camp for the families of the Shivalik Brigade of the Indian Army. During the camp, 72 women received free breast and cervical cancer screening, gynaecological consultations, and preventive healthcare services. A tree plantation drive was also organised, during which saplings of Arjun, Neem, and Jamun were planted as part of the programme.

As part of the Women’s Day programme “Abhivyakti,” Dr. Sumita Prabhakar spoke about breast and cervical cancer awareness, highlighting the importance of recognising early symptoms, understanding risk factors, adopting preventive measures, and undergoing regular screening.

Two educational webinars were also conducted, where participants learned about breast self-examination, cervical cancer prevention, HPV vaccination, and recommended screening practices. During the sessions, CanApp was introduced to demonstrate how women can perform self-breast examinations and recognise changes that may require medical evaluation.

The initiatives reached a wide audience, with 150 women participating in the webinars. Together with the health camp, more than 230 women benefited from the awareness and screening programmes.
Dr. Sumita Prabhakar expressed her appreciation to the entire team of Can Protect Foundation, including Dr. Rekha Khanna, Dr. Vineeta, Dr. Huma, Dr. Pooja, Sister Neema, Sister Nirmala, Mr. Madhukant Kaushik, Mr. Lalit Anand, and all the volunteers and healthcare professionals whose dedication made these programmes possible.
Can Protect Foundation continues to support community outreach initiatives that promote breast and cervical cancer awareness, encourage regular screening, and help women make informed decisions about their health.
The Women’s Day health awareness initiatives organised by Can Protect Foundation were also covered by regional media.
