Cervical cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths among women, yet it is also one of the most preventable. Timely vaccination against the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), which causes the majority of cervical cancer cases, can save countless lives. Recognizing this urgent need, Dr. Sumita Prabhakar, a senior gynecologist and passionate women’s health advocate, has appealed to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, on 7 May 2025 to provide the cervical cancer vaccine free of cost to all young girls across the state.
